I Choose "SALES" as My Career

I started my career in PT Lautan Luas Tbk. as a Sales Executive for Plastic Industry in Surabaya area. I remember that I havent finished my bachelor degree when I start the first day. By then, I am still waiting for my final thesis at Ubaya University, majoring Chemical Engineering.

Since my 4th semester I already have a dream job, as a sales person. Yes! My dream job is to be a good sales person. Thats why when there is recruitment come to my university, I apply directly for this position. The reason behind this is that, for me, if a person can have a technical knowledge combines with a good sales and marketing skill, means he can become everything in this life. Not many people believe in this at that time, especially the wording Sales is always connected with the negative opinion, such as not trustworthy person, annoying, door to door, etc.

But its not true, because a sales person is the Frontliner. Without good sales people, a company will not have a sustainable growth. Only in PT Lautan Luas Tbk., I experienced that being a sales is truly a blessing. PT Lautan Luas Tbk. , is a big, reputable chemical distribution and manufacturing company in Indonesia. I am lucky to be part of this big family. In PT Lautan Luas Tbk.,we always treat our people with respect and ethical because its one of the values that our founder state in the Corporate Core Values.

As a sales executive, I need to go to the customers, find out what is their needs, help them to achieve their objective by providing the best product and solution for them, execute the strategy that being made by the business unit, and meet a lot of professionals in the industry. Its a great path and a learning curve that really grow me to become what I am today.

I spent 3 years in the Sales Executive position in Plastic Industry then promoted to become an Account Specialist Manager which focuses on handling medium and big Companies. After 3 years in that position, I got promoted again to fill the Industrial Development Manager position. I need to travel all over Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand support our Sales people introducing new products, new applications, new concepts, and exploring new industry that can give the most profitable growth for the company. Two years in that position, then I got another promotion and become Marketing Manager. The main task is to manage the whole operation and business of Plastic Division from the Jakarta Head Office. Unfortunately, I am not in that position for long because after 9 years in Plastic industry Division then I get another challenge from the Board of Management to become a Business Project Manager who focuses on establishing new manufacturing facilities in the East Java area.

In 2010, when I am still 32 years old, I already got a big trust from the company to lead the start of a project from the Green Scratch. Its really an honor for me to get that kind of trust and support. Currently, the year of 2015, I am still active in PT Lautan Natural Krimerindo as Director.
